Los Angeles Home Improvement? Put this Exterior Renovation at the Top of Your List
Home improvement can be just as important as interior renovations when it comes time to sell your Los Angeles home.
You’ve probably heard that curb appeal is vital. It not only affects the number of people who will ask to see your home after doing a drive-by or viewing photos on line; it affects their perception of how your home has been cared for. Thus it alters what they’ll notice once inside.
Because most home improvements return only about 80% of the dollars spent, the return on your investment comes primarily from giving the house greater appeal and reducing the time on the market – saving you from making additional payments and allowing you to get on to your next adventure.
There is one project that also returns full monetary value. According to Remodeling Magazine’s 2015 Cost vs. Value Report, installing an attractive steel entry door will recoup 101.8% of its cost.
Choosing a fiberglass door instead returns only about 72% of the cost, even though the initial cost is more than double.
Next on their list, at 92.2% return on investment, was installation of manufactured stone veneer. It far outpaced installation of vinyl siding, at 80.7% return on investment.
Coming in 3rd is garage door replacement. Buyers are turned off by dented and bent garage doors, so this one has the advantage of returning about 88.4% of your investment while keeping your home from being crossed off the list.
